LAGOS, Nigeria – September 12 – In a spectacular display of culinary ambition, Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has begun her attempt to cook the world’s largest single pot of Nigerian jollof rice. The historic event is taking place at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, drawing a massive crowd of eager participants.

The free event, which commenced at 9:00 AM this morning, has already generated tremendous excitement. Over 20,000 people have registered to attend, hoping to witness culinary history and secure a taste of the monumental dish.

For her record-breaking attempt, Chef Baci is utilizing a staggering 250 bags of rice. The scale of the operation is a testament to the logistical and culinary challenge of creating a single, cohesive meal of such magnitude.

Hilda Baci, who previously held the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, has promised attendees an “amazing meal.” This new endeavor seeks to not only break another record but also to celebrate and promote Nigeria’s beloved culinary signature dish on a global stage.

If successful, the attempt will firmly place Nigerian jollof rice—a subject of friendly rivalry across West Africa—in the Guinness World Records book, championed by one of the country’s most celebrated culinary icons.
