KAMPALA – Jibu Uganda has issued a formal public statement after a video circulated on social media showing a customer receiving impure water from a Jibu bottle. The company has taken ownership of the incident and apologized to its customers.
In a press statement released by Jibu Corporate (UG) Ltd, the management acknowledged the viral video and confirmed that they have published a direct response with the influencer in question.
“Firstly, we would like to take ownership and apologize that this incident occurred,” the statement read. The company assured the public that it has implemented “counter-measures to ensure we continue enforcement of highest-quality standards and elimination of counterfeit products.”
To empower customers and prevent future occurrences, Jibu outlined specific red flags to watch for. Customers are urged to immediately report any Jibu 20L bottles that:
· Have a broken external tamper-evident wrap, are not sealed properly, or lack an internal tamper-evident seal.
· Do not have a production date stamp.
· Do not appear hygienic according to Jibu’s standards.
The company has activated a dedicated customer hotline (0700818455) for reporting suspected counterfeit products or other complaints, such as leaking bottles.
Alongside the statement, Jibu released a visual guide titled “What an authentic Jibu 20L Tap bottle should look like.” The guide details the key security and quality features of a genuine product, which include:
· A Jibu universal label with a barcode.
· A tightly fitted tap with Jibu shrinkwrap.
· A tightly fitted branded cap seal.
· A composition label with a valid date sticker.
Jibu reiterated its commitment to providing “safe, clean, and reliable water to all our customers” and thanked them for their trust, vowing to “continue to uphold the highest standards of quality and safety.”
