
Kenya and Uganda Deepen Ties with Eight New Bilateral Agreements

Kenya and Uganda have taken a significant step towards strengthening their longstanding relationship by signing eight new bilateral agreements aimed at deepening cooperation across various sectors.
The agreements were signed during an official visit by Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to Kenya, where he was hosted by President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi.
President Ruto, while addressing the media after the signing ceremony, emphasized the importance of the new accords in bolstering mutual interests between the two East African nations. He said the new memoranda of understanding (MoUs) build upon 17 existing agreements and represent a shared commitment to regional development and stability.
βThese new agreements are a testament to the enduring friendship and partnership between Kenya and Uganda. They will not only enhance economic cooperation but also promote people-to-people ties and ensure that our partnership translates into tangible benefits for our citizens,β President Ruto said.
The signed agreements cover a wide range of areas, including trade, energy, infrastructure, security, and cross-border cooperation. Both leaders expressed optimism that the strengthened ties will accelerate regional integration under the East African Community (EAC) framework.
President Museveni commended Kenyaβs commitment to regional cooperation and reiterated Ugandaβs readiness to work closely with its neighbor to unlock new opportunities for development.
The visit and the signing of the new agreements mark a pivotal moment in Kenya-Uganda relations, with both countries pledging to maintain open channels of dialogue and collaboration for mutual growth.
