Entebbe Mayor Fabrice Brad Rulinda has officially broken ground for the construction of the Ssebugwawo–Bunono–Abayita Ababiri–Kitinda Link Road, a 6.1-kilometre multi-jurisdictional infrastructure project.

The project is being undertaken under the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area Urban Development Programme (GKMA-UDP) in collaboration with Katabi Town Council.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Undersecretary at the Ministry of Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs (MoKCC&MA) and the Mayor of Katabi Town Council, who hailed the initiative as a transformative step toward improving connectivity and easing traffic flow within the metropolitan area.
According to Mayor Rulinda, the road will not only improve transport efficiency between Entebbe and surrounding communities but also unlock new opportunities for trade, real estate growth, and social integration across municipal boundaries.
“This project represents a new era of cooperation between Entebbe Municipality and Katabi Town Council. It is proof that when we work together under GKMA-UDP, we can deliver infrastructure that uplifts our people,” Rulinda said.
Local leaders also emphasized that the improved road network will reduce travel times, enhance access to essential services, and boost economic activities for residents of both jurisdictions.
The project is expected to serve as a model for other metropolitan link roads planned under GKMA-UDP, aimed at creating a well-connected, modern, and sustainable Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area.
