Ministry of Health Exposes Fake Scholarship Advert, Warns Public Against Scam
The Ministry of Health has issued a stern warning to the public regarding a fraudulent advertisement circulating online, which falsely announces scholarships under a project that has already ended.
The fake advertisement, which uses the Ministry’s name and logo, claims that the Government of Uganda, with financing from the World Bank and the Global Financing Facility (GFF), is offering scholarships for various health-related disciplines. These include Nursing, Biomedical Engineering, Radiography, Medicine, and others. The notice urges applicants to apply electronically by 15th October 2025.
In a clear rebuttal, Dr. Diana Atwine, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, has categorically denounced the advert as fake. She confirmed that the Uganda Reproductive Maternal and Child Health Service Improvement Project (URMCHIP) mentioned in the circular has already ended and that there is currently no such scholarship recruitment drive.
The Ministry emphasises that this scam is being used by fraudsters to solicit bribes from unsuspecting Ugandans with promises of securing them jobs or scholarships.
Dr. Atwine urged the public to completely ignore these adverts and any subsequent demands for payment. She further advised citizens to share this information widely to prevent others from falling victim to the con.
The public is reminded to always verify the authenticity of any such opportunities through the official Ministry of Health communication channels before engaging or sending any money.
