MultiChoice Warns Against Piracy Ahead of New Football Season
KAMPALA — With the new football season set to kick off in a matter of days, MultiChoice has issued a stern warning against the unauthorized airing of its sports content, pledging to take legal action against individuals and organizations that infringe on its exclusive broadcast rights.
In a statement released this week, the pay-TV giant stressed that its subsidiary, SuperSport International (Pty) Limited, holds the exclusive Pay-TV rights to some of the world’s most prestigious football tournaments. These include the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Europa Conference League, UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Youth League, and the FA Community Shield.
MultiChoice cautioned that any attempt to broadcast, stream, or distribute these competitions without proper licensing is both illegal and a breach of copyright and broadcast agreements.
The company’s announcement serves as a reminder to bars, broadcasters, and online platforms to seek authorized channels or face potential prosecution as the highly anticipated season gets underway.
