President Yoweri Museveni has officially endorsed 86-year-old General Moses Ali to run for another term as the Member of Parliament for Adjumani West in the 2026 general elections.
The endorsement took place at a rally in Adjumani District on Monday, where President Museveni, who is also the chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), personally handed the party flag to the veteran politician. In a gesture that spared the frail General from standing for a prolonged period, the event underscored Ali’s long-standing service to the nation.
General Moses Ali has had a political career spanning over five decades, having served in various high-profile roles, including Second Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament. He has been a member of parliament since 1980.
The rally was part of President Museveni’s ongoing campaign tour of the West Nile region. The endorsement has sparked mixed reactions online, with supporters lauding it as a mark of respect for a liberation hero, while critics have raised concerns about the octogenarian’s health and capacity to effectively serve, citing reports of visible weakness during his recent public activities.
