National Scouts Council Battles to Reclaim Historic Kaazi Scouts Land
The National Scouts Council has launched a fight to reclaim the 120.1-acre Kaazi Scouts land in Busabala, claiming it was illegally sold by the former Uganda Scouts Association leadership, which now operates under the name Uganda Boy Scouts Association.
The prime lakeside property, originally donated by former Buganda King Daudi Chwa for the promotion of scouting activities in Uganda, has since been subdivided and developed. The council alleges that the sale contravened the land’s intended purpose and was done without proper authorization.
On August 7, a team from the State House Anti-Corruption Unit visited the site following a petition from concerned parties. The visit is part of ongoing investigations into the alleged irregular transaction.
Meanwhile, the Uganda Boy Scouts Association maintains it has already secured investors to develop both the Kaazi land and another property along Buganda Road, signaling a deepening dispute over the future of the contested assets.
The battle over Kaazi—considered a heritage site for Ugandan scouting—now pits two rival factions against each other, with both laying claim to the land and its legacy.
