
The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has announced the commencement of ID renewal services for Ugandans living abroad. The initiative targets diaspora members who still identify as Ugandan and hold Ugandan passports, as well as those with dual citizenship.
Eligibility Criteria
- Ugandans abroad traveling on Ugandan passports.
- Individuals with dual citizenship.
Note: Those who acquired another nationality without dual citizenship are not eligible for the renewal.
Renewal Schedule
The renewal exercise will take place in multiple cities across the globe, with the following schedule:
- Qatar (Doha): August 4 & 17
- Abu Dhabi: August 18β24
- Sharjah City: August 25β27
- Ras Al-Khaimah: August 28β30
- London (Ugandan High Commission): September 14β21
- New York: September 23β25
- Washington, D.C.: September 26β28
- New Orleans: September 29β31
The renewal process is part of an effort by the CCIC – State House to ensure Ugandans in the diaspora maintain valid identification documents. Eligible individuals are encouraged to take advantage of the designated dates in their respective locations.
