The State Minister for Animal Husbandry, Lt. Col. Bright Rwamirama, has petitioned President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to urgently intervene in a growing dispute over the Njeru Stock Farm in Buikwe District.
In his appeal, Rwamirama accuses the Minister of Internal Affairs, Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire, of actions that he says are threatening the existence and operations of the government-owned livestock research and breeding facility.
The Njeru Stock Farm, established to support livestock development and improve animal breeds in Uganda, is considered a key resource for the agricultural sector. Rwamirama’s petition reportedly urges the President to protect the farm from what he describes as “destruction” resulting from Otafiire’s alleged interference.
The nature of the dispute between the two ministers has not been officially clarified, but the matter underscores growing tensions within government circles over the management and use of strategic public agricultural assets.
