
NRM Delegates Conference: League Chairpersons Declared in Landmark Elections
KAMPALA – The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has announced the elected chairpersons for its specialized leagues following a Delegates Conference, marking a significant step in the party’s internal leadership structure.
The declared winners, as confirmed by official party communications, represent the diverse pillars of the NRM’s support base.
Adrine Kobusingye has been elected as the Chairperson of the powerful NRM Women’s League. Her victory is seen as a pivotal moment for the league, which plays a crucial role in mobilizing support and addressing issues affecting women across Uganda.
For the NRM Workers’ League, Mr. Arinaitwe Rwakagara Katambuka emerged victorious. The Workers’ League is instrumental in representing the interests of the labour force and ensuring the party’s connection with the country’s working population.
The NRM Historical League, which often comprises veterans and long-standing members who have been with the movement since its early days, elected Col. Tom Butiime as its Chairperson. His leadership is expected to guide the league in preserving the party’s legacy and historical principles.
In a move highlighting the party’s commitment to inclusivity, Mr. Mwanje Shafik was declared the winner for the chairmanship of the NRM PWDs League (Persons with Disabilities). This league is dedicated to advocating for the rights and full participation of persons with disabilities within the party and the nation.
