KAMPALA – The National Unity Platform (NUP) electoral commission has officially released its list of successful candidates who will carry the party flag in the upcoming Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) elections. The list features a mix of incumbent politicians and high-profile new entrants, including singer and political activist Nubian Li and current Lord Mayor aspirant Ronald Balimwezo Nsubuga.
The list, which was obtained by this publication, details the party’s official flag bearers for all key positions, including the directly elected Lord Mayor, Division Mayors, and City Councillors.
High-Profile Nominations
In a significant move, the party has officially endorsed Ronald Balimwezo Nsubuga, the current Division Councillor for Old Kampala, for the city’s top job of Lord Mayor. He will be the party’s candidate to succeed the outgoing Erias Lukwago.
Similarly, the influential singer and Bobi Wine confidant, Nubian Li (real name Buken Ali), has been officially confirmed as the NUP flag bearer for the Nakawa Division Mayoral race. His nomination is expected to energize the party’s base in the division.
A Full Slate of Candidates
The released documents confirm a complete slate of NUP candidates for all divisions:
· Kampala Central Division: Moses Kataabu
· Nakawa Division: Buken Ali Nubianli
· Makindye Division: Bosco Lusagala
· Kawempe Division: Emmanuel Sserunjoji
· Lubaga Division: Zacky Mawula Mberazze
The list also includes all directly elected city councillors and women councillors for the five divisions, ensuring the party has representation in every electoral district of the city. Notable names include Charles Musoke Sserunjoji for Kampala Central and Eva Kyazike as the City Woman Councillor for the same division.
The release of this official list is a crucial step in solidifying the party’s campaign structure and preventing confusion among its supporters. It signals the NUP’s readiness to contest vigorously for control of the city’s administration.
All eyes will now be on the electoral process to see if this lineup of candidates, blending political experience with popular appeal, can secure a decisive victory for the National Unity Platform.
