Kampala – Worship House lead pastor, Wilson Bugembe, has opened up about the personal sacrifices he made to ensure the stability and growth of his ministry, shedding light on the often-unseen burdens church leaders carry.
Speaking about a crucial moment in the church’s history, Pastor Bugembe recalled when the ministry urgently needed one billion shillings to purchase parking space for the congregation. At the time, he had just completed building his personal home in Kiwatule through years of hard work.
In a move he describes as painful but necessary, the pastor sold his house for 700 million shillings and took out an additional 300 million shilling loan to raise the required amount.
“In my anguish, I met Gravity Omutujju who told me, ‘This place we are buying is more special than your house because the President and some exalted men may never come to your house, but here everyone can visit when you invite them,’” Bugembe recounted.
He said the Ugandan rapper’s words gave him comfort and helped him find peace with the difficult decision, adding that the property has since become a vital asset for the church’s mission and community outreach.
Bugembe’s testimony comes amid public debates about church finances and allegations of mismanagement, with the pastor stressing that behind the scenes, many leaders make personal sacrifices to keep the “house of God” in place.
