KAMPALA – President Yoweri Museveni has officially launched the National Resistance Movement (NRM) manifesto for the 2026-2031 term and commenced his nationwide campaign, starting in the historically significant Luweero District.
The manifesto was unveiled at a ceremony held at Speke Resort in Munyonyo, Kampala. The 185-page document outlines the ruling party’s key priorities for the next five years. Central pillars include maintaining peace and security, advancing infrastructure development, promoting commercial agriculture, and creating jobs. Other focal points are improving health and education services, expanding market access through regional integration, and fostering national unity.
A central economic goal declared in the manifesto is an ambitious plan to grow Uganda’s economy from its current estimated size of $66 billion to $500 billion within the next five years. The document also emphasizes the protection of gains achieved since the NRM’s liberation struggle from 1981 to 1986.
Following the launch, President Museveni began his three-month campaign tour on Tuesday in Luweero District, a region renowned as the starting point of the NRM’s bush war. The event attracted thousands of supporters, signaling the start of the official campaign season.
