President Museveni Oversees Major Judicial Reshuffle, Swears in New IGG, Principal Judge, and DPP
MBALE, UGANDA – In a significant ceremony at the Mbale State Lodge on November 9, 2025, H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni presided over the swearing-in of three top judicial officials, marking a major shift in Uganda’s legal landscape.
The President, exercising his constitutional mandate, oversaw the appointment of Hon. Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala as the new Inspector General of Government (IGG). She succeeds Hon. Beti Kamya Turwomwe at the helm of the country’s lead anti-corruption agency.
Justice Naluzze was not alone at the high-profile event. She was joined by the Deputy Inspectors General of Government, Dr. Okiria and Ms. Anne Twino, who were both reappointed to their respective positions, signaling continuity in the IGG’s leadership team.
The same ceremony saw two other crucial appointments. Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo was sworn in as the new Principal Judge, a role critical for the administration of the High Court. Furthermore, Mr. Lino Anguzu took the oath of office as the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), placing him in charge of the nation’s prosecutorial authority.
The simultaneous swearing-in of these three key figures—the IGG, the Principal Judge, and the DPP—represents a comprehensive reinforcement of Uganda’s governance and justice sectors. The event underscores the government’s focus on strengthening institutions responsible for upholding the rule of law, combating corruption, and ensuring the effective delivery of justice.
The newly appointed officials are expected to commence their duties immediately, overseeing their respective offices in a coordinated effort to enhance judicial integrity and accountability across Uganda.
