President William Ruto has honoured his promise to reward the Harambee Stars with a cash bonus of KSh1 million per player following their 1-0 victory against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Sunday.
A total of KSh42 million has been disbursed by the Ministry of Sports, covering 27 players and 15 members of the technical bench. Each individual received their promised KSh1 million as part of a presidential pledge aimed at boosting morale and recognising the team’s outstanding performance.
The triumphant win over DRC has reignited national pride in the men’s football team and sparked optimism ahead of their next fixture against Angola. President Ruto has also assured the team of a similar reward if they secure another victory on Thursday.
This initiative reflects the government’s broader strategy to invest in sports and incentivise excellence on the international stage. The President’s gesture has been widely praised as a demonstration of leadership that values national achievement and youth talent.
With momentum on their side and presidential backing, all eyes will be on Harambee Stars as they prepare to take on Angola in a crucial upcoming clash.
