LONDON – Arsenal have secured the long-term future of their defensive stalwart, William Saliba, with the French centre-back signing a new five-year contract on Monday, September 30, 2025.
The new deal, which will keep the 24-year-old at the Emirates Stadium until June 2030, represents a major statement of intent from the club. It comes after Saliba reportedly rejected concrete interest from European heavyweights Real Madrid to commit his prime years to the Gunners.
Saliba has become an indispensable part of Mikel Arteta’s squad, forming a formidable defensive partnership with Gabriel Magalhães. Their understanding has been the bedrock of Arsenal’s recent success, with the team conceding a remarkably low average of just 0.5 goals per Premier League game over the last two seasons.
In a move that will electrify the Arsenal fanbase, Saliba expressed his deep loyalty to the club and a burning ambition to win the game’s biggest trophies in North London. Commenting on the speculation surrounding his future, he was quoted as saying via transfer expert Fabrizio Romano: “He [Trent Alexander-Arnold] won some titles at Liverpool, with me I didn’t win anything here except the Shield. I want to stay here and win a lot of trophies.”
He added, powerfully: “I love this club, I couldn’t leave without giving something back.”
The defender also credited manager Mikel Arteta for his profound role in his development, underscoring the strong belief the Spanish coach has placed in him.
Saliba’s decision to sign is a significant boost for an Arsenal side that currently leads the Premier League table, having stormed to the top with seven consecutive victories to open the season. His commitment signals a shared belief within the squad that the club is on the cusp of a trophy-laden era.
