Security Forces Foil Coordinated Dawn Attacks in Western Uganda

KAMPALA, UGANDA – November 1, 2025 – Ugandan security forces have repelled a series of coordinated attacks launched at dawn on Saturday in the western regions of the country, according to an official police press release.
The Uganda Police Force reported that assailants carried out simultaneous assaults across multiple areas within the Rwenzori West and Rwenzori East police regions.
In the Rwenzori West region, the attacks targeted several locations:
· The districts of Bunyangabu and Kabarole.
· Bundibugyo district, specifically in Kakhuuka parish, Sindira sub-county.
· Fort Portal City, with incidents reported around Nyakasura School and the Canon Apollo Core Primary Teachers’ College (PTC).
Simultaneously, in the Rwenzori East region, the Kasese district was attacked. The assailants targeted the Kasese Police Barracks and the Rugendabara Police Station.
The police statement confirmed that the security response was swift and effective. “Several assailants were put out of action and many were arrested,” the release stated. While some police officers sustained injuries during the confrontations, no fatalities were reported among the security forces.
Authorities have assured the public that operations are ongoing to pursue and apprehend all individuals responsible for planning and executing the attacks.
“The operation by security agencies is ongoing aimed at pursuing and apprehending all those responsible for these attacks,” the police said, adding that the actual number of casualties and arrests would be provided at a later time.
The situation in the affected areas is now reported to be under the firm control of the security forces.
