Juba, South Sudan – October 1, 2025
In a significant move towards national modernization, the Government of South Sudan has announced plans for a major nationwide Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure development program. This landmark investment is designed to lay the foundational groundwork for a more connected, modern, and economically competitive nation.

The decision was solidified during a high-level meeting held yesterday between the Vice President, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, and the Minister of Information, Communication Technology & Postal Services, Hon. Michael Makuei Lueth.

During the briefing, Minister Makuei presented a comprehensive overview of the Ministry’s current trajectory. He detailed the achievements accomplished to date, provided updates on ongoing progress, and outlined the critical challenges that need to be overcome to fully unlock South Sudan’s digital potential.
The new nationwide program is a direct response to these findings and is positioned as a key priority for the administration.
This initiative is firmly aligned with the long-standing vision of His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit, for whom ICT has always been a cornerstone of national transformation. The government reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging technology to empower the people of South Sudan, enabling them to learn new skills, earn a living, foster innovation, and thrive in an increasingly digital global landscape.
The upcoming ICT infrastructure program marks a pivotal step in bridging the digital divide and is expected to catalyze growth across all sectors of the South Sudanese economy.
