Kampala | The Chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission, Dr. Tanga Odoi, has urged Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga to concentrate on her campaign for the party’s top leadership, assuring her and the public that the upcoming Central Executive Committee (CEC) elections will be conducted in a free and transparent manner.
Dr. Odoi made the remarks ahead of the highly anticipated CEC vote set to take place at Kololo Independence Grounds, emphasizing that the exercise will be carried out through the lining-up method, in accordance with party regulations.
“There is no room for manipulation. The process will be open and visible to all delegates,” Dr. Odoi said, adding that the choice of lining up ensures maximum transparency and accountability.
Kadaga, who is contesting for a key position on the CEC, has been actively engaging with delegates and mobilizing support across the Central Region. The assurance from the EC Chairperson comes amid concerns raised by some candidates about the integrity of the process.
Dr. Odoi dismissed fears of bias or interference, reiterating the commission’s commitment to conducting a credible and democratic exercise.
“The NRM is a mass party, and we want our internal elections to reflect the will of the people. I advise all candidates, including Rt. Hon. Kadaga, to focus on their campaigns and trust the process,” he said.
The CEC elections are a crucial part of the NRM’s internal democracy, determining the leadership that will steer the party’s strategic direction ahead of the 2026 general elections.
