TMR International Hospital Refutes Allegations Over Patient’s Death and Care

KAMPALA – TMR International Hospital has issued a press release categorically denying what it describes as “misinformation” circulating online regarding the care of a deceased patient, Augustine, and the hospital’s subsequent interactions with his family.

The hospital’s statement, released in mid-November 2025, addresses several serious claims that have appeared on some media platforms. The management expressed condolences to the family, calling Augustine’s passing a “profound loss,” and stated that despite “tireless efforts” from their medical team, they were unable to save his life.
In its point-by-point rebuttal, the hospital clarified the following key issues:
· Continuous Support: The hospital asserts that from the moment of admission, the family received continuous clinical, administrative, and financial support, with all care decisions made in close consultation with the parents.
· Transfer Option: According to the release, the family was offered the option to transfer Augustine to another ICU-capable facility but chose to continue his care at TMR, expressing confidence in the treatment.
· Financial Arrangements: The hospital stated that it provided flexible financial arrangements at the family’s request, including a “substantial discount” and a revised payment plan.
· Inaccurate Bill: The press release explicitly denies that the medical bill accumulated to UGX 150 million (also referenced as “USA IS0 million” in a social media post, likely a typographical error), calling the reported figures “inaccurate and misleading.”
· Body Withholding: A critical point of refutation was the allegation that the hospital withheld the patient’s body. TMR International Hospital stated, “At no point did the hospital delay, deny or place conditions on the release of the body,” labeling these claims as “entirely unfounded.”
The hospital emphasized that its relationship with the family remains “respectful and cooperative” and urged the media to practice responsible reporting, verify facts before publication, and respect the family’s privacy.
The statement concludes by reaffirming the hospital’s commitment to “professionalism, transparency and excellence in the delivery of healthcare.”
