WASHINGTON – The Trump administration has announced a sweeping, multi-agency investigation aimed at uncovering and disrupting the financial networks of Antifa and affiliated left-wing groups.
The probe, officially launched on October 6, 2025, will involve the FBI, the Treasury Department, the White House Homeland Security Task Force, and the intelligence community. The initiative was detailed by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who stated the goal is to trace the flow of money supporting the organization’s activities.
This financial investigation follows President Donald Trump’s September 22 executive order that formally designated Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization. The move signaled a significant escalation in the administration’s efforts to combat what it describes as left-wing political violence.
Officials, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, have outlined that the investigation will work to identify donors and explore a range of accountability measures. These could include revoking the nonprofit status of groups found to be channeling funds to Antifa, effectively cutting off their financial lifelines.
The announcement underscores the administration’s continued focus on Antifa as a primary national security threat and represents a concrete step toward pursuing the group through its financial infrastructure.
