KAMPALA, UGANDA | Prominent businessman and proprietor of Triangle Group of Hotels, Oweek. Hajj Mutaasa Kafeero, has reportedly relocated from his longtime residence after industrial developments in his neighborhood made life increasingly uncomfortable.
According to sources, several of Kafeero’s neighbors sold their land to wealthy investors who set up coffee processing factories, heavy truck parking yards, and other industries, turning the once serene residential area into a noisy, congested hub. The developments are said to have frustrated Kafeero, a tycoon known for his vast investments, forcing him to seek a quieter environment.
Reports indicate that Kafeero has now sold part of the land holding his former residence and shifted to a new home located near the farm residence of fellow tycoon and Spear Motors proprietor, Mzee Gordon Wavamunno.
The relocation was carried out gradually, with Kafeero first moving two to three of his wives (Hakis) to the new residence before eventually constructing a storied, tiled home for the last one and settling them all there permanently.
Kafeero’s move underscores a growing trend among Uganda’s business elite seeking more private and serene residences away from rapidly industrializing neighborhoods.
