

U.S. Ambassador Praises Bravery of AUSSOM and SNA Troops in Fight Against Al Shabaab

Mogadishu, Somalia – U.S. Ambassador to Somalia, Larry E. Andre, visited wounded soldiers at the @aussom_ hospital, commending the courage and sacrifice of African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) and Somali National Army (SNA) troops in their ongoing battle against al Shabaab.
The ambassador spoke with @MODVA_UPDF soldiers injured during recent clashes in Bariire, reaffirming Washington’s strong support for Somalia’s counterterrorism efforts. “These brave soldiers are the tip of the spear, taking the fight to the enemy every day,” Ambassador Andre said. “Their sacrifices are critical to achieving lasting security and stability in Somalia.”
The United States provides extensive security assistance to AUSSOM and SNA forces, including logistics, training, and medical support. These programs are part of a broader international effort to bolster Somalia’s fight against al Shabaab and restore peace in the region.
The ambassador’s visit underscores the U.S. commitment to standing alongside Somali and African Union forces as they continue their critical operations against the militant group.
