ENTEBBE, Uganda – National carrier Uganda Airlines has issued a formal statement clarifying its ongoing fleet acquisition strategy, calling recent media reports on the matter “speculative and premature.”
The clarification, dated August 27th, 2025, and titled “Statement on Uganda Airlines Fleet Acquisition Process,” seeks to address what the airline management describes as inaccurate reports. The statement firmly places the entire project under the control of the government Shareholders, who are operating through a specially formed inter-ministerial Fleet Team.
The airline emphasized that the process is still in its early, or “nascent,” stages. Because of this, it asserts that any claims of procedural irregularities are unfounded and without merit.
The management has stated that all definitive communications regarding the types of aircraft to be added to the fleet will be formally authorized and disseminated by the Shareholders only once the process is finalized. Stakeholders, media, and the public are advised to await this official guidance and to disregard unconfirmed reports.
This move to control the narrative suggests a significant fleet expansion or modernization is under serious government consideration, though the airline has yet to reveal any specific details or timelines.
