Uganda Bureau of Hajj Affairs Distances Itself from Socialite Chosen Becky’s Saudi Arabia Trip

KAMPALA – The Uganda Bureau of Hajj Affairs has issued a public clarification regarding the ongoing social media discussion surrounding socialite Kukiriza Rebecca, popularly known as Chosen Becky, and her recent travels to Saudi Arabia.
In an official statement released today, the Bureau confirmed that Chosen Becky did not travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the auspices of any Ugandan Hajj or Umrah group organized by the official body.
The clarification comes in response to widespread speculation and reports linking her pilgrimage to the Bureau’s operations. According to the Bureau, her travel documents and visa were procured independently and outside of their purview.
“The Uganda Bureau of Hajj Affairs would like to inform the public that Ms. Kukiriza Rebecca, alias Chosen Becky, did not travel for Umrah with any Ugandan Hajj group that we manage or coordinate,” the statement read.
The Bureau further provided details on her method of travel, stating, “Our records indicate that she obtained a visit visa through the Embassy of Mali, allegedly for a music performance in Riyadh.”
This distinction is significant as it separates her journey from the official, regulated religious pilgrimages facilitated by the Bureau, which involve specific visas, travel arrangements, and spiritual guidance for Ugandan Muslims undertaking the sacred journeys of Hajj and Umrah.
The Bureau’s statement aims to maintain the integrity of its official pilgrimage programs and distance itself from any unauthorized or privately arranged travel that may be misconstrued as being under its authority.
There has been no immediate comment from Chosen Becky or her representatives regarding the Bureau’s clarification. The news has sparked further discussion on social media about the circumstances of her travel.
