KAMPALA, UGANDA – The popular morning talk show “Omusunsuzi” on Salt Television has been taken off the air indefinitely. The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) announced the immediate suspension of the programme on Saturday, September 13th, 2025, citing a serious breach of national broadcasting standards.

The regulatory body stated that the decision followed a period of routine monitoring and was prompted by numerous complaints from the public. The UCC found that the content aired on the weekday show, which runs from 6:00 am to 8:00 am, consistently contained abusive language and featured unprofessional conduct from its presenters.
A primary concern highlighted in the public notice was the programme’s timing during the morning hours, a slot when children are a significant part of the television audience. The commission expressed alarm that the unsuitable material was likely exposing young viewers to harmful content.

In a directive issued to the broadcaster, the UCC has ordered Salt TV to:
· Immediately suspend the airing of “Omusunsuzi.”
· Provide written responses to the complaints received by the commission.
· Submit full recordings of all episodes broadcast between August 1st and September 12th, 2025.
· Hand over the programme’s script for review.
Salt TV has been given a deadline of Friday, September 19th, 2025, to confirm compliance and submit all requested materials to the commission.
Reiterating its commitment to its mandate under the Uganda Communications Act, the UCC stated that the action was necessary to “protect the public from harmful or offensive content and ensuring that broadcasters operate in compliance with the law and professional standards.”
As of now, Salt Television has not issued a public statement regarding the suspension of one of its flagship morning programmes.
