Uganda Launches National Hospitality Training to Elevate Tourist Experience

ENTEBBE, Uganda – In a significant move to boost its tourism sector, the Government of Uganda, in collaboration with the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), officially launched a comprehensive Hospitality Impression Training for tour guides and airport taxi operators on Wednesday.

The two-day session, held at Imperial Resort Beach in Entebbe from November 19-20, 2025, is themed “Advancing Service Standards, Promoting Uganda’s Image.” The initiative is designed to equip these frontline tourism workers with the essential skills to create a positive, safe, and unforgettable first impression for visitors arriving in the country.
The training program covers a wide range of critical areas, including:
· Customer care and communication etiquette to ensure friendly and professional interactions.
· Tourism awareness to deepen knowledge of Uganda’s attractions.
· Peace and political stability knowledge to confidently address visitors’ questions about the country.
· Promotion of Ugandan export products and destinations to encourage broader economic benefits from tourism.
This capacity-building drive is a direct response to a directive issued by His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on April 19, 2023. The President called for a concerted effort to cultivate a more welcoming national image, specifically highlighting the crucial role played by taxi operators and tour guides who are often the first point of contact for tourists arriving in Uganda.
The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to transforming the tourism industry by focusing on the quality of service from the moment a visitor steps into the country. By empowering these key actors, the government aims to ensure that every tourist’s initial experience is not only seamless but also genuinely reflective of Uganda’s renowned warmth and hospitality, thereby encouraging longer stays and positive word-of-mouth.
The successful implementation of this training is expected to directly contribute to an enhanced visitor experience, strengthening Uganda’s competitive position as a premier tourist destination in Africa.
