Uganda Police Force Hosts High-Level Egyptian Delegation to Strengthen Security Ties

KAMPALA – In a move to bolster international police cooperation and share expertise, the Uganda Police Force (UPF) recently hosted a delegation of six high-ranking officials from the Egyptian Police force.
The visiting team was led by Brigadier General Ahmed Youssry Mohamed Hashem and included specialists in various policing disciplines. The purpose of the visit was to foster knowledge exchange and explore areas of mutual collaboration in modern policing techniques.

The delegation’s itinerary included a comprehensive tour of the UPF’s Directorate of Forensic Services (DFS). There, the Director of Forensic Services, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mubiru, provided an in-depth briefing. He detailed the directorate’s critical roles in criminal investigations, the capabilities of its forensic laboratories, ongoing training programs for personnel, and potential avenues for future collaboration between the two nations.
Following the forensic briefing, the Egyptian officials proceeded to the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). They were received by Chief Superintendent of Police (CP) Ezra Mujabwami, who showcased the advanced technology at the heart of Uganda’s policing operations.
A key highlight was the presentation on the National Command, Control, and Communication Centre. CP Mujabwami explained the centre’s strategic functions in revolutionizing police work, particularly in enhancing real-time communication, operational coordination, and resource deployment across the country.
The visit is seen as a significant step towards strengthening the bilateral relationship between the Ugandan and Egyptian police institutions. Both parties expressed optimism that the shared insights would lead to enhanced cooperation in tackling transnational crime and improving overall security capabilities.
