Ugandan Media Personality Dean Saava Lubowa Flees to UK After Legal Ordeal

KAMPALA, Uganda – Self-proclaimed political rumormonger and proprietor of TV10 – Gano Mazima, Dean Saava Lubowa, has reportedly fled to the United Kingdom following a protracted legal battle that saw him imprisoned and his broadcasting equipment seized by Ugandan authorities.
According to information shared on March 18, 2026, Lubowa opted to relocate abroad after months of legal turmoil that began when he allegedly “shook tables that had expensive drinks”—a reference to an incident that triggered his prosecution for illegal broadcasting. He was subsequently held at Luzira Prison, where he spent months in congested cells.
Sources indicate that Lubowa’s expensive studio equipment was confiscated by government authorities during the legal proceedings. He was reportedly released only after making a public appeal described by those close to him as involving kneeling and tears. Following his release, associates advised him to leave the country, warning that remaining in Uganda without a viable livelihood—his media work being his primary source of income—could lead to a fate similar to that of late blogger Isma Olaxess, also known as Jajja Iculi.
In a post shared on its platform on March 18, the outlet announcing his departure stated that Lubowa had chosen to relocate abroad after enduring the legal battle and losing his broadcasting equipment.
As of press time, there was no official confirmation from Ugandan authorities regarding Lubowa’s departure or the status of the equipment seized. Attempts to reach Lubowa or his representatives were unsuccessful.
