Prime Minister Nabbanja Arrives in Turkmenistan to Represent President Museveni at UN Conference
Awaza, Turkmenistan – August 3, 2025
Uganda’s Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, has arrived in Turkmenistan to represent His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the 3rd United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), taking place in the coastal city of Awaza.
Upon arrival at Turkmenbashi International Airport, Prime Minister Nabbanja was warmly received by Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
The high-level conference, convened by the United Nations, brings together heads of state, government leaders, development partners, and international institutions to address the unique challenges faced by landlocked developing nations. These countries, lacking direct access to the sea, often encounter significant barriers to trade, transport, and economic growth.
The 3rd LLDC Conference aims to forge collective solutions that will unlock the full economic potential of landlocked nations and accelerate progress toward equitable, inclusive, and sustainable development. The outcomes of the conference are expected to shape a new global agenda to replace the Vienna Programme of Action (2014–2024).
Prime Minister Nabbanja is scheduled to deliver Uganda’s national statement, articulating the country’s achievements and priorities under President Museveni’s leadership, including regional infrastructure development, trade facilitation, and partnerships for economic transformation.
Uganda remains an active voice among the 32 landlocked developing countries globally, championing initiatives that bridge geographic limitations and open up new opportunities for prosperity across Africa and beyond.
