CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba Donates Allowances to Renovate Bombo Barracks Primary School

The Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has funded the construction of a new classroom block and major renovations at Bombo Barracks Nursery and Primary School using his official allowances.
A cheque worth UGX 300 million was formally presented to the school administration on Thursday by the CDF’s Military Assistant, Col. Christopher Muwumba.
The donation marks the first fulfillment of a pledge Gen. Kainerugaba made upon taking office: to direct the allowances attached to his position toward public interventions with clear and pressing needs.
Brig. Gen. Richard Karemire, representing the UPDF Joint Staff Formal Education, Sports and Culture, underscored the significance of the contribution at the handover event.
“This money could have gone elsewhere, but the CDF committed it towards the education of our children,” Brig. Gen. Karemire stated. He thanked the CDF for his continued focus on the welfare of soldiers and their families, many of whom have children at the school, describing the funds as a “timely and significant boost” to improve the learning environment.
He urged the engineers overseeing the project to ensure its timely completion.
Col. Muwumba emphasized that the support represents more than a financial contribution. “It represents a shared investment in the future, in the young minds of our nation. This is not just to the military fraternity but to the wider community we serve,” he said.
He added that this initiative is only the beginning, with plans to extend similar support to other worthy causes in line with broader government programs and the UPDF’s spirit of altruism.
The event was attended by the school’s administration, including head teacher Lt. Sharon Namuwenje and her deputy.
Brig. Gen. Karemire also highlighted other ongoing UPDF school projects supported by the CDF, including the construction of Ruhengyere Army Primary School and the rehabilitation of Lira Army Primary School.
