
UN Team in Uganda Charts Ambitious Path for New Development Partnership (2026-2030)

ENTEBBE, Uganda – The United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in Uganda has concluded a strategic retreat at the Regional Service Centre in Entebbe (RSCE), laying the groundwork for the next UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for 2026–2030.
The retreat served as a pivotal platform for UN agencies to align their strategies with Uganda’s national development goals and the urgent global priorities of the 2030 Agenda. Discussions were anchored in a forward-looking vision, emphasizing the principles of the Pact for the Future, exploring innovative financing solutions to overcome funding constraints, and strengthening the UN system’s readiness to effectively support Uganda’s development journey.
In light of ongoing global reforms and financial challenges, the team unanimously reaffirmed its commitment to a collaborative approach characterized by creativity and clarity. The focus is squarely on ensuring that the next UNSDCF translates into tangible, impactful results for the people of Uganda, accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
“Amid a complex global landscape, our commitment is to remain a trusted and effective partner for Uganda,” a statement from the retreat read. “The next Cooperation Framework will be a blueprint for meaningful collaboration, driven by a shared ambition to leave no one behind.”
The gathering also featured a heartfelt farewell to Ms. Gift Malunga, the outgoing Representative for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Uganda. Colleagues celebrated her exceptional leadership and significant contributions to the UN’s work in the country over her tenure. The team extended their warmest wishes for success in her future endeavours.
The development of the UNSDCF 2026-2030 marks a critical step in the partnership between the United Nations and the Government of Uganda, setting a shared strategic direction for five years of collaborative effort aimed at fostering sustainable development and prosperity for all Ugandans.
