
Kampala, 18th August 2025 — The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has issued a directive requiring all Heads of Examination Centres, as well as District, City, and Municipal Inspectors of Schools, to publicly display the 2025 Candidates’ registers for verification. The registers must be exhibited from 10th August to 10th October 2025 at designated schools and district headquarters, in compliance with the UNEB Act, Cap 259 S.4(2).
Key Details for Stakeholders
- Verification of Registration: Parents of learners registered at non-UNEB-accredited schools are urged to confirm their children’s registration status to avoid last-minute discrepancies. Candidates missing from the register despite proof of fee payment should report to their schools or contact UNEB immediately.
- SMS Check Option: UNEB has introduced an SMS service for registration confirmation. Parents/candidates can send “Reg. [Full Index Number]” to 6600 for instant verification.
- Biodata Accuracy: Heads of Centres, parents, and candidates must cross-check critical details such as:
- Index/Personal Number
- Correct spelling and order of names
- Date of Birth (Day, Month, Year)
- Gender
- High-resolution photograph
- Subjects registered (for UCE and UACE candidates).
Discrepancy Resolution
- PLE Candidates: Schools must submit amendment forms via the UNEB portal.
- UCE/UACE Candidates: Schools should write to UNEB with supporting documents (National IDs/Birth Certificates).
