UPDF Appoints Brigadier Jackson Pande Kajuba as New Armoured Division Commander Following General’s Death
Masaka, Uganda — The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has appointed Brigadier General Jackson Pande Kajuba as the new commander of the Armoured Division following the sudden death of his predecessor.
The appointment, announced Thursday by Chief of Defence Forces General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, takes immediate effect. Brigadier Kajuba steps in for Major General Deus Sande, who passed away Wednesday after suffering severe breathing complications.
Until his promotion, Brigadier Kajuba served as deputy commander of the division under the late Major General Sande. He now assumes full command of the Masaka-based division, one of the UPDF’s key mechanised units.
In a parallel move, Colonel Wilson Bagonza Rwakanara of the Special Forces Command has been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General and appointed deputy commander of the Armoured Division.
“We congratulate the General officers on the new appointments and wish them good luck in the execution of their duties,” said Colonel Chris Magezi, acting Director of Defence Public Information, in a statement.
The changes mark a significant leadership transition for the division at a time of continuity in its operational mandate. No further details were provided on the late Major General Sande’s passing or funeral arrangements.
