KAMPALA, Uganda β A video from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) manifesto launch on Tuesday has sparked widespread discussion online, showing 86-year-old Deputy Prime Minister Moses Ali appearing unsteady and requiring assistance to remain seated.
The footage, which circulated widely on social media, shows the veteran politician, who is also the Second Deputy Prime Minister, being supported by individuals on either side of him during the event on September 30, 2025. The incident has intensified existing public debate about his health and fitness for office as he seeks re-election as the Member of Parliament for Adjumani West in the January 2026 polls.
Commenting on the video, social media users expressed concern, with one account, “The Kenyan Vigilante,” stating, “The health of General Moses Aliβ¦ seems to be deteriorating rapidly.”
General Ali, a former army officer with decades of service in both the military and parliament representing northern Uganda, has previously addressed concerns about his capacity. In July 2025, he dismissed health-related criticisms, affirming his ability to continue serving his constituency, particularly on refugee and development issues.
The viral clip highlights broader questions about age and longevity in Ugandan politics, where President Yoweri Museveni, 77, has been in power for nearly four decades, and senior figures like Ali remain in high office.
