
JUBA, South Sudan – September 16, 2025 – Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel met today with the Chief Administrator of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA), Gola Boyoi Gola, to address critical issues of security and infrastructure in the region.
The high-level meeting, held in the nation’s capital, saw Chief Administrator Boyoi provide a detailed briefing on the current security landscape and the pressing infrastructure needs of the Greater Pibor area.
In response, Vice President Bol Mel issued a clear directive for the local administration to intensify its peacebuilding initiatives. He underscored that achieving lasting peace is an absolute prerequisite for any meaningful development.
“Lasting peace is the bedrock upon which sustainable infrastructure and development are built,” the Vice President stated, emphasizing that without stability, the nation’s broader aspirations for economic growth remain out of reach.
Furthermore, Dr. Bol Mel reiterated the vision of H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit, calling for a strengthened partnership between the national government and local administrations. He stressed that effective, collaborative governance is essential for ensuring that development is not confined to major urban centers but permeates every community and household across South Sudan.
The meeting highlights the national government’s ongoing focus on resolving localised conflicts and fostering inclusive development as key pillars of the country’s recovery and growth.
