KAMPALA – The leadership of Watoto Church has confirmed the resignation of Pastor Zane Solomon Mugabi following allegations of engaging in an inappropriate romantic relationship with a church member.
The announcement was made discreetly during the weekend’s Heart of Compassion service, where congregants were asked to keep their cameras off.
Pastor Mugabi, who lost his wife, Eva Abwola Mugabi, just months into their marriage, became a widower after she died from complications linked to a septate uterus.
According to church officials, it was after Eva’s passing that Pastor Mugabi became romantically involved with a female congregant — a move that contravenes Watoto’s leadership code of conduct. The church described the decision to accept his resignation as necessary to uphold its values and standards.
Watoto Church has not disclosed further details about the congregant involved, but emphasized its commitment to pastoral accountability and the moral integrity of its leaders.
