Kampala, Uganda – Police officers at Kajjansi Police Station have arrested a Whiteman suspected to be behind a bomb scare at Quality Supermarket, Lubowa, along Entebbe Road. The suspect, together with a boda boda rider, allegedly attempted to extort money from two financial institutions after planting a fake explosive.
According to security sources, the incident unfolded yesterday evening when the suspect handed over two envelopes to a boda rider identified as Madi Muteta. The rider was instructed to deliver them to ABSA Bank and Guild Forex Bureau, both located at the Lubowa complex.
The envelopes reportedly contained threats demanding over Shs. 600 million in ransom, warning of planted explosives. However, police later established that the supposed bombs were fake.
The swift intervention of security personnel led to the immediate arrest of both the Whiteman and the boda rider. They are currently being held at Kajjansi Police Station as investigations continue.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, emphasizing that hoaxes of this nature pose serious risks and trigger unnecessary panic.
