Arsenal have secured a major piece of their long-term plans, with defender William Saliba agreeing to a new five-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2030.
The new deal ends speculation around the 24-year-old French international’s future, as he had entered the final two years of his previous contract. Despite reported interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid, Saliba has opted to continue his development under manager Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium.
As part of the agreement, Saliba will receive a significant pay rise, with his salary increasing to approximately £250,000 per week. This commitment reinforces the defender’s status as a cornerstone of Arteta’s project.
Securing Saliba’s services is a huge boost for Arsenal, solidifying the core of a squad that challenged for the Premier League title last season. He now joins other key young stars like Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice, who have also signed long-term deals, as the foundation for the club’s pursuit of major trophies.
