
HEADLINE: Young Businesswoman Murdered in Kyanja Apartment, Security Guard Among Suspects Arrested
KAMPALA – Police at Kira Road Station are actively investigating a brutal case of aggravated robbery and murder that has shocked the Kyanja community. The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Namulinde Diana, a businesswoman and popular social media content creator.
According to police reports, the crime occurred on the night of Tuesday, 3rd February 2026, at the deceased’s apartment in Kwaata Zone, Kyanja Ward, Kawempe Division. Diana, who lived alone, was discovered dead on the afternoon of Wednesday, 4th February, after friends grew concerned and visited her home. They found her apartment open and made the grim discovery.
Preliminary information indicates that the victim was strangled. A breakthrough in the case came earlier on the day her body was found when police arrested a security guard attached to the residential premises. The guard was reportedly found in possession of items suspected to have been stolen. Some of these recovered items were later positively identified as belonging to the deceased.
A full-scale homicide investigation was immediately launched. A team of detectives and Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) processed the apartment, documenting the scene and recovering several key exhibits for forensic analysis. Statements from relevant witnesses have also been recorded.
“So far, three suspects have been identified in connection with this heinous crime, and two have already been arrested to assist with investigations,” a police statement read. While the security guard is confirmed to be in custody, the identity of the second arrested suspect and the third sought suspect have not been disclosed.
The body of Namulinde Diana has been conveyed to the KCCA Mulago City Mortuary to undergo a postmortem examination aimed at establishing the exact cause of death.
The murder has sent waves of fear and sadness through the local community and her online followers, who remember her as a vibrant and entrepreneurial young woman. Authorities have reassured the public that investigations are progressing intensively to ensure all involved are brought to book.
