DOHA – The State of Qatar has issued a fierce condemnation of what it describes as a “cowardly Israeli attack” that struck residential buildings in its capital, Doha, on Tuesday. The targeted buildings were reported to be housing several high-ranking members of the Political Bureau of the Hamas movement.
In an official statement, the Qatari government labeled the strike a “criminal assault” and a “blatant violation of all international laws and norms.” It further asserted that the attack represents a serious threat to the security and safety of both Qatari citizens and residents within the country.
“The State of Qatar strongly condemns this criminal assault which constitutes a blatant violation of all international laws and norms, and poses a serious threat to the security and safety of Qataris and residents in Qatar,” the statement read.
According to the Qatari Ministry, security forces, civil defense, and other relevant authorities immediately responded to the incident. Their efforts are focused on addressing the aftermath, taking necessary measures to contain the repercussions, and ensuring the safety of the residents in the affected and surrounding areas.
The statement took a firm stance against further escalation, warning that Qatar “will not tolerate this reckless Israeli behavior and the ongoing disruption of regional security, nor any act that targets its security and sovereignty.”
Authorities confirmed that a comprehensive investigation into the attack is currently “underway at the highest level.” They promised that further details would be announced to the public as soon as they become available.
The incident marks a significant and dangerous escalation in regional tensions, directly striking at the heart of a key mediator nation and challenging its national sovereignty. The international community is awaiting further developments with grave concern.
