Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan Seeks Full Term in Upcoming Election
DAR ES SALAAM — Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has officially picked up nomination forms to contest for a full five-year term under the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party.
President Samia, who has been in office for about four years and six months, took over in March 2021 following the death of then-President John Magufuli. She completed the remainder of his term, becoming Tanzania’s first female head of state.
The country’s general election is scheduled for October 29, 2025. If endorsed by CCM and elected, Samia will embark on her first full mandate, solidifying her position as one of East Africa’s key political figures.
