IDF Drone Strike Kills Hezbollah Weapons Developer in Southern Lebanon
NABATIEH, Southern Lebanon – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the elimination of a key Hezbollah operative in a targeted drone strike on Sunday. Muhammad Ali Yassin, identified by the IDF as a terrorist involved in the development and production of weapons for the Lebanese militant group, was killed in the Nabatieh area.
According to an official statement, Yassin’s activities were in direct violation of the ceasefire understandings mediated by the U.S. and France in November 2024. The IDF stated that his work contributed to Hezbollah’s military buildup south of the Litani River, a violation of the truce terms.
This operation marks one of over 470 strikes conducted by the IDF since the ceasefire was established, following the intense 2023-2024 cross-border conflict that included a ground incursion by Israeli forces and the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. The ongoing campaign aims to prevent the Iranian-backed group from rearming and threatening northern Israel.
As of now, Hezbollah has not issued an official response to the strike, and no immediate retaliatory actions have been reported. Tensions remain high along the Israel-Lebanon border as international efforts to maintain the fragile ceasefire continue.
