ENTEBBE – In a significant move for environmental conservation, the Mayor of Entebbe, His Worship Fabrice Brad Rulinda, has personally led a large-scale tree-planting campaign aimed at reclaiming the endangered Kitubulu Central Forest Reserve.

The initiative, which saw the active participation of local community members, environmentalists, and municipal officials, marks a critical step towards restoring the forest’s degraded ecosystem. The campaign’s primary goals are to revive the area’s biodiversity, promote long-term environmental sustainability, and ensure a safer, more secure living environment for the residents of Entebbe.

Mayor Rulinda, who was actively involved in the planting exercise, emphasized the urgency of the intervention. He stated that the degradation of the forest reserve posed a threat to the community’s well-being and the local climate. The tree-planting drive is a direct response to these challenges, aiming to reverse the damage and secure the ecological future of the area.

“The restoration of Kitubulu Central Forest Reserve is not just about planting trees; it is about securing the future of our community,” said Mayor Rulinda. “This initiative is a commitment to environmental sustainability, which directly translates to a safer and healthier living environment for all our people. We are determined to reclaim this vital green space for generations to come.”
The community-based event fostered a spirit of collective responsibility towards environmental protection. Participants expressed optimism that the sustained effort would help combat soil erosion, improve air quality, and restore the habitat for local wildlife.
The Entebbe Municipal Authority has indicated that this campaign is the first in a series of planned activities designed to protect and rehabilitate the district’s natural resources, underscoring a firm commitment to balancing urban development with ecological preservation.
