Revolut Disrupts Telecom Market with Mobile Service Launch in UK and Poland
Digital banking fintech Revolut has officially expanded into the mobile telecommunications sector, announcing the launch of its new mobile plans for customers in the United Kingdom and Poland.
The service, now available to customers on the waitlist in both countries, promises “more data at lower costs” and emphasizes flexibility with no contract commitments. This move pits the financial app directly against traditional mobile network operators by leveraging its existing digital infrastructure.
Built on principles of “simplicity, security, and global utility,” the new offering allows users to activate a plan within seconds via the Revolut app. A key feature is the ability for customers to either keep their existing phone number or select a new one, seamlessly managed within the familiar Revolut ecosystem.
The initial phase is an exclusive access period for waitlisted users. Revolut has confirmed a broader rollout is scheduled for the new year, when all customers in the UK and Poland will be able to subscribe. The company notes that standard terms and conditions apply to the new service.
This strategic expansion marks Revolut’s latest step in becoming a broader “financial superapp,” moving beyond banking and currency exchange to compete in the adjacent, highly competitive telecom market. Analysts suggest the no-contract, app-centric model could appeal strongly to digital-native customers seeking greater transparency and value.
