Uganda and Central African Republic Strengthen Military Cooperation
ENTEBBE, Uganda – The Chief of General Staff of the Central African Armed Forces (FACA), Major General Zépherin Mamadou, held a bilateral meeting with Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on Thursday.
The meeting took place at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe, focusing on the ongoing military partnership between the two nations.
Major General Mamadou underscored the critical support provided by the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF). He credited UPDF training programs across various leadership levels with enabling FACA to address command gaps and rebuild its operational capacity. This enhanced capacity, he noted, played a vital role in ensuring a secure environment for the Central African Republic’s recent elections.
He also conveyed formal greetings from CAR President H.E. Faustin-Archange Touadéra and the country’s Ministry of Defence.
In response, General Kainerugaba reaffirmed the UPDF’s commitment to pan-African solidarity and pledged continued support for FACA’s capacity-building initiatives.
As part of his visit, Major General Mamadou is scheduled to attend Uganda’s 45th Tarehe Sita celebrations, marking the founding anniversary of the UPDF.
