Ugandan TikToker Ken Mukalakasa Forced to Kneel, Pleads for Forgiveness After Arrest Over Homosexuality Charges
Kampala, Uganda – Ken Lukyamuzi, a popular Ugandan TikToker known online as Ken Mukalakasa, was briefly arrested today before being made to kneel and plead for forgiveness from Youth Minister Balaam Barugahara. The dramatic turn of events comes weeks after the social media influencer was accused of violating the country’s recently enacted anti-homosexuality legislation.
According to reports, Lukyamuzi was taken to the minister by his own friends after emerging from a period of hiding. The TikToker had gone off the grid weeks prior, switching off all his known phone numbers, following the circulation of a viral video depicting him in explicit sexual acts with another man.
Security agencies had reportedly been hunting for the influencer to face legal consequences for breaking the newly passed law, which prescribes severe penalties for same-sex acts.
After growing weary of his life in hiding, Lukyamuzi contacted friends who, in an effort to help him avoid imprisonment, forcefully brought him before Minister Balaam to seek a formal pardon.
During the encounter, which was captured in images circulating on social media, Lukyamuzi was made to kneel before the minister and a group of onlookers as he pleaded for forgiveness.
Upon being interrogated, Lukyamuzi disclosed details regarding the circumstances that led to the viral video. He confessed that he had organized a gay house party, and it was during that gathering that the explicit content was recorded.
Visibly remorseful as he knelt, the TikToker vowed to change his ways, promising never to engage in homosexual acts again. He appealed to the minister for clemency, hoping to avoid prison time.
The incident has sparked widespread conversation online, with the images of the influencer kneeling and begging for forgiveness drawing sharp reactions from both supporters and critics regarding the handling of the case.
As of press time, it remains unclear whether Lukyamuzi will face formal charges following his plea for forgiveness or if the intervention by the minister will serve as a resolution to the legal hunt against him.
