Ugandan-American Man Accused of Killing Four Children at Kindergarten for Vulnerable Infants
KAMPALA, Uganda – A 39‑year‑old man holding both Ugandan and American citizenship has been accused of killing four children at a kindergarten that cares for malnourished and vulnerable youngsters, prosecutors said. The suspect allegedly gained access to the facility by posing as a parent.
According to court statements, the man has confessed to the killings, which are believed to have been planned over several days. The victims were children between three months and three years old, all receiving care at the specialized nursery.
The facility, which has not been named by authorities, focuses on rehabilitating malnourished and at‑risk infants and toddlers. Prosecutors did not disclose a possible motive for the attack.
A medical assessment has determined that the suspect is fit to stand trial. He has been remanded in custody while the investigation continues. No trial date has been set.
Local authorities have not released further details about the circumstances of the attack or how the man was able to bypass security measures at the kindergarten. The case has drawn shock and outrage in Uganda, where violence against young children remains rare.
The U.S. Embassy in Kampala has been notified of the dual citizen’s arrest but has not yet issued a public statement.
