NSSF Land Dispute Heads to Court
The long-standing land dispute between the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and businessman Amos Nzeyi over the Temangalo land has taken a new turn. During a Parliamentary Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) hearing, Nzeyi’s lawyer, Peter Kabatsi, proposed that the NSSF either refund the money for the disputed 55 acres or allow Nzeyi to purchase additional land to retain his property .

The dispute dates back to 2008 when the NSSF purchased 463.87 acres from Nzeyi and Arma Limited for its Temangalo Housing Project. A Memorandum of Understanding allowed Nzeyi to retain 104.88 acres in exchange for providing suitable alternative land, a condition he has reportedly failed to fulfill . The NSSF has since commenced court proceedings to evict Nzeyi from the land . The matter has drawn significant public concern over the safeguarding of workers’ contributions .
President Museveni Celebrates Grandson’s UPDF Commission
President Yoweri Museveni has congratulated his grandson, Ruhamya Kainerugaba, and fellow cadet Bakyira Ruyondo on their commissioning into the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) after graduating from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the UK . At a State House reception, Museveni praised army service as a strong foundation for young Ugandans, while questions have been raised about access to elite training opportunities . Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon Gears Up for Record-Breaking Event
The fifth edition of the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon in Kasese on August 22 is set to be the biggest yet. Organizers have boosted the prize fund to a record UGX 252 million, with the winner’s purse nearly quadrupling to UGX 40 million . The event, which has capacity for 2,500 runners and expects 8,000 participants from around the world, will be broadcast globally .
